The style of this house evolved from the owners’ love of the classical architectural style of the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra.
The main objection was that Bannister Gardens Griffith is a protected zone containing no double story houses. Due to this, our design had to have the appearance of a single story house to the front with a double story to the back.
The palette of colours was taken from the existing houses in the area and consisted of timber windows, red bricks and red brick roof tiles. This helps to blend the house into the neighbourhood.
We believe the house sits well with its neighbours and probably will be the only double storey house allowed in this special precinct.
