Our clients Terry and Fabio came to us with the advantage of a stunning block, and a deep understanding for what home they were after. Originating from the rich culture of Italy Fabio had been exposed to Art, Architecture, and Design all of his life and desired a home that reflected their lives as well as providing a home for their young family.
Located on a prominent corner block of Deakin, the site presented itself as the perfect canvas for us to bring their dreams to reality. Many existing trees of good health were on the block and have been retained to ensure the Home sits within the site naturally. The brief for the exterior was a French Chateau style, with detailing throughout the facades hinting as to the design detailing awaiting you inside.
The interiors of the home have been designed with a classical hierarchy in mind whilst there are modern living spaces to inhabit. Formal Lounge and Dining Rooms greet guests, as well as a stunning, sleek, spiral designed staircase leading to rooms above. Beyond the Formal Rooms there is an open plan Kitchen, Meals, and Living space with high ceilings to capture the Northern Sunlight. This living space connects directly to the outdoor Alfresco area which is screened from the street.
The primary qualities of the architecture that encapsulate this home are of; scale, proportion, balance, flow, and cross ventilation. The Scale of rooms and the relationship between them was of great importance, thresholds of varying widths and ceiling heights allow rooms of different volumes to seamlessly connect together. The proportion of elements both externally and internally was of great importance and we were lucky to have such architecturally like-minded clients that appreciate this. Ensuring cross ventilation was present throughout the house was also of importance, this was created by the design around a central courtyard.
Our clients were engaged in the process throughout design and construction, with all designers, builders, and consultants working as a team to deliver their dream.
The end result is the culmination of years of work, and it is evident in the attention to detail evident throughout the home.
The result is a home with “soul and a feeling of ease when you enter, you feel that you have arrived in a very special space” – A visitor to the home.
