Red Hill Residence

Project details

This project provided some excellent design concepts. The height and angle of the block allowed the design to capture wonderful views of Canberra and the surrounds whilst maintaining excellent solar access.
The front elevation faces North. North and East windows capture winterly sun while the pergola and screens protect the occupants from the harsh summerly western sun.

The block has a prominent mature tree at the rear that provides established canopy cover for the block. The design concepts embraced the tree as an integral part of the development, enhancing the finished product and allowing the home to settle naturally within the block with the presence of such an established tree.
The considerations for a large block that sloped up from the street allowed us to design a 2-storey home with on grade basement car parking beneath, and complimentary landscaping. It also meant the avoidance of significant site cut, as there is rock present at the site.

The ground floor contains a guest bedroom with walk in robe and ensuite for parents who visit frequently. Also present on ground level is the formal lounge, kitchen, laundry, powder room and a wine cellar adjacent to the kitchen and staircase. The second floor comprises the master bedroom suite with walk in robe and ensuite, a rumpus room, two additional bedrooms, a bathroom and powder room.
